Does anyone remember Ian Dury and The Blockheads?
I didn’t, at least I thought not.
This morning my mentor tells me his wife has gone to Billericay for the day.
“How lovely! What part of Spain is that?”
He looks at me as if I am a blockhead myself and says...
“Billericay, Essex, you know Ian Dury in The Blockheads? He was a punk that had polio as a child and walked with a stick?”
An hour later, I am lying down on my Acupuncturist's couch.
Relaying excitedly about the New Year retreat I’ve just launched in the Yucutan.
“Ian Dury and The Blockheads,” she says…
I bolt upwards, like some mummy that had been needlefied out of Indiana Jones or something.
“What did you just say?”
“Ian Dury and The Blockheads sung about the Yucutan”
I can’t believe what I am hearing.
“Yes,” she says “hit me with your rhythm stick!”
Luckily, this time I understood what one of my mentors were getting at! I might not have known Ian Dury, but I knew the song, so I didn’t think she’d completely lost it!
Interestingly, after this every needle that followed felt so much more painful.
Much more than being hit with a rhythm stick.
More like being hit by a thunderbolt.
Lying there in shock with every prick and the synchronicity of hit me with your rhythm stick my mind travelled all the way back to the previous day, when a client told me about the comet which she heavily researched in relation to the Mayan's for her book (I cannot wait until I get the chance to read it).
She found the comet that hit the Yucutan Peninsula 66 million years ago appeared in Greek Mythology as Phaethon who stole Apollo’s [his father’s] Sun Chariot and was struck down by Zeus's lightning rod.
A quick search on google and I find exactly that.
An excerpt from a book called “The Destruction of Atlantis” talks about the Aztec God Tezcatlipoca, who was cast down from the sky by a spear thrown by the hand of Huitlipochtli, the equivalent of Zeus. Tezcatlipoca descended into the water and arose as a constellation as did Phaethon.
However, it doesn’t seem like this is the only Phaethon hanging out in the Yucutan - and let's face it, I don’t blame him! It’s one of my favourite places on Earth, but there may be more to that than meets the eye too - which I will explain at the end.
Yup! It seems there is another Phaethon!
His name is Piltzintli - the diving God.
Sculptures of him can be seen at the Mayan ruins in Tulum - which fits perfectly as Tulum is the city of the diving gods and bingo! Bang where the retreat is …
But what’s this doing in a book about Atlantis?
Well, the description, is similar to Plato’s description of the destruction of Atlantis.
“In the space of a day and night, the sky drew near to the earth, all were drowned as mountains of fire arose”
Piltzintli is also known as The God of Mass Migration, the Aztecs believed he led their ancestors from Aztlan (The great island in the sunrise sea) to Tulum “The City of the Dawn” before it too was destroyed in a way that sounds strikingly similar to Atlantis.
In fact, my favourite mystic of all time Edgar Cayce (the sleeping prophet) when in trance, described the mass migration of the Atlantians to the Yucutan.
To this day, offerings of seashells are made to Piltzintli at the temple in Tulum, especially along the paved ceremonial road from his temple into the sea.
Tulum is known as the last and best-preserved city of the Mayans.
Their sudden end, just as mysterious as Atlantis, as is the next-door Bermuda Triangle.
By the way, did I mention this all happened to me the day I was on The Chariot card in the Tarot for the day?
The Chariot being Phaethon is my card, in that I'm a number 7, and The Chariot is the seventh card in the Tarot, so it’s what’s called my “birth card”
It’s my birthday on Sun-day - 11th August:
According to the correlation between the Long Count and Western calendars accepted by the great majority of Maya researchers (known as the Goodman-Martinez-Thompson, or GMT, correlation), the starting-point of the Mayan calendar is equivalent to August 11, 3114 BCE.
Finally, it’s all starting to make sense as to why when I had a mid-life crisis a couple of years ago I happened to land in Tulum, why I celebrated my birthday before leaving…
And now, why I am to return.
